묘공당妙空堂 대행大行(1927～2012) 선사의 법문은 방대하지만 그 속에는 일관된 원리가 들어있다. 따라서 본고는 대행 사상의 진면목眞面目을 파악하기 위해 심성心性과학과 주인공의 원리 및 한마음과학과 한마음원리 등에 대하여 살펴보았다. 심성과학은 물질과학과 정신과학을 모두 포함하는 전체과학으로서 심성과학의 주요 원리는 ‘주인공의 원리’다. 이 원리는 대행의 친설로서 생명․생각․육신의 삼합이 같이 돌아가면서 작용한다는 뜻이며, 본고에서는 이를 학술적인 구조로 분석하여 제시한 설명 틀로 활용한다. 한마음과학은 학자들이 대행의 법문을 재구성하여 제시한 학문적 연구 결과이며, 그 주요 원리로서 제시한 ‘한마음원리’는 생명의 근원․마음냄․마음나툼(현상화)이 삼각원형적으로 순환하는 원리다. 대행 선사의 설법을 기반으로 하는 주인공의 원리와 한마음원리는 유사하지만 분명한 차이점이 있다. 주인공의 원리에서 생각과 육신의 관계는 비교적 직접적인 연관관계를 가지는 반면에, 한마음원리는 마음내기와 마음나툼(현상화)이 간접적인 관계를 맺는다는 점에서 두 원리는 차이가 있다. 대행의 사상적 면모를 전반적으로 파악할 수 있는 구조로 정립하기 위해서 생명․생각․육신․나툼 등 4요소로 융합 재구성하여 대행사상의 원리로 제시하였다. 이 원리는 주인공의 원리와 한마음원리를 모두 수용하여 대행사상의 원리성을 종합하는 효과가 있다. 대행의 과학관과 원리관은 그 사상적 독창성을 방증傍證 해준다. 다양한 분야와 연계하여 연구한다면 그 중요성의 새로운 발견과 함께 무한한 가치가 드러날 것으로 판단되므로 지속적인 후속 연구를 기대한다.
The Dharma talks of Master Myogong Daehaeng (1927–2012) are extensive, yet they embody consistent principles. Therefore, to grasp the true nature of Daehaeng’s thought, this study examines the following: her science of mind, the Juingong Principle, Hanmaum Science, and the concept of the One Mind (Hanmaum). Daehaeng’s science of mind is a holistic science encompassing both material science and spiritual science. At its center lies the “Juingong Principle.” As her own original theory, the Juingong Principle implies that the three elements of life, thought, and body work together in a synergistic manner. This paper analyzes this principle within an academic structure and presents an explanatory framework. Hanmaum Science is the result of academic research in which scholars reconstructed her teachings, and compressed them into a “Hanmaum Principle.” The Hanmaum Principle represents a triangular cycle consisting of: the source of life, the arising of the mind, and the manifestation of the mind (into phenomena). The Juingong Principle and Hanmaum Principle, both based on the teachings of Seon Master Daehaeng, share similarities, yet have distinct differences. In the Juingong Principle, thought and the physical body have a relatively direct relationship, while in the Hanmaum Principle, the relationship between the arising of the mind and manifestation of the mind is indirect. To establish a structure that allows for a comprehensive understanding of the ideological aspects of Daehaeng Seon, this study presents the principles of Daehaeng’s concepts into an integral reconstruction of the four elements: life, thought, body, and manifestation. These principles incorporate both the Juingong Principle and Hanmaum Principle, effectively synthesizing the fundamental nature of Daehaeng’s thought. Daehaeng’s scientific view and core principles further demonstrate her ideological originality. Research in conjunction with various fields will undoubtedly reveal new discoveries in their significance and infinite value, creating opportunities for continued follow-up research.
