초록
‘나툼’이라는 말은 사전적으로는 붓다가 중생의 깨달음을 위해 나타난다는 의미이다. 따라서 ‘공의 나툼’에서의 ‘나툼’이란 일상에서 눈앞에 어떤 사물이 모습을 드러내는 것과는 다르다. 반야경에 따르면 공이 일체 존재의 본성으로 현현하는 경우는 보살이 삼매에 들어 깊은 반야바라밀을 행할 때이다. 다시 말해서 ‘어떤 것(A)이 다른 것(B)에게 나투다.’ 라는 것은 문聞·사思과 수修의 관점에서 본다면 문聞과 사思의 단계에서는 A라는 대상을 B가 듣고 깊게 탐구하는 것이다. 그러나 수修의 단계에서는 A는 더 이상 생각의 대상이 아니라, B 스스로가 A와 일체화되어 A와 B는 서로 다르지 않는 것이 된다. 이 단계는 ‘색즉시공’과 ‘공즉시색’으로 대변되고, 이 말은 삼매 속에서 공의 본성 그 자체로서의 공성을 언어로 표현한 것이라고 할 수 있다.
본고는 이상의 취지를 대행스님의 ｢공의나툼｣ 장의 다양한 법문에 관하여 『팔천송반야경』의 해석을 기반으로 고찰한다. 나아가 『반야심경』에서의 색과 공의 상관관계를 산스크리트 원문에 대한 불교인식론적 분석을 시도한다. 결론적으로 대행선사의 ‘공의 나툼’은 ‘색즉시공 공즉시색’이라는 반야사상에 기반하고 있음을 재확인한다.
The Korean word, '나툼[Na-Thum]' is the nominal conjugation inflected from the verb, "나투다[Na-Thu-Da]". The meaning of the verb is that Buddha appears in front of all of sentient beings to lead them for the way of enlightenment. "Appearance" in "the appearance of sūnya[tā]", therefore, does not mean something appears as a form and color in daily life. In the only case, according to Prajñāpāramitā-Sūtra, that sūnya[tā] appears all beings as their original natures, when boddhisattva-s do prajñāparamitā. In other words, what one (A) is showing in front of the other (B) can be described from the view of hearing(聞), thinking(聞) and practicing(修), that is, the subjective, ‘B’ is hearing and thinking of the objective, ‘A’ in the first and the second stage, but in the third stage, ‘A’ is no more of the objective to hear and think of, that is, ‘B’ is already associated with A, and the both are not different from each other.
This stage is represented by "rūpaṃ śūnyatā śūnyataiva rūpam", and the expression is realized through samādhi meaning 'putting together, 'joining or combining with', or 'completion'. As following the mentioned above, the paper investigates ｢공의 나툼｣ (Appearance of sūnyatā) of ????한마음요전???? (The Compendium of Han-Ma-Eum), and discloses the thought in them to be derived from Prajñāpāramitā-Sūtra as to the extent of my research on Aṣṭasāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā. In addition, the paper tries to analyze and reinterpret the relation between rūpa and sūnya[tā] in Prajñāpāramitā-Hṛdaya-Sūtra, the most popular mantra in Korean Buddhism. The teachings of Dea-Hyeng Great Seon Master in 'Appearance of sūnyatā' are based on the doctrine of the way of boddhisattva, the practicing of Prajñāpāramitā in my conclusion.
